Poetic Automation Workshop at Maker Faire Bay Area 2019

Join Ryan Jenkins of Wonderful Idea Co. and Adina Pollen from Atiq: Jewish Makers Institute for a exploration of poetry, storytelling, engineering and tinkering.

We believe that inspiration for making can come from a variety of sources and that there are natural connections between the humanities and more technical subjects.

In this workshop we'll read and discuss poems by Mary Oliver as an inspiration for building automata, playful crank powered toys.

Participants will take a line or image from a poem and then use wood, wire and craft materials to create a physical mechanism that expresses the feeling.

Audience: Adults

Cost: The registration fee for this workshop covers the cost of materials. You get to keep and take home what you make.

Time: 1.5 hours
